Re-integration | Employer
When an employee is absent from work, reintegration becomes an important goal. HSK specialises in employee mental healthcare. Through our @Work interventions, we actively involve the workplace, you as the employer, and the occupational physician in the employee’s recovery and return to work.
The @Work treatment is results-oriented, focusing on effective recovery and, in cases of sickness absence, a timely and sustainable return to work. Now also available in English.

Screening
After registration, we invite your employee for a Screening, which will take place within 10 working days. During the Screening, we assess the diagnosis, symptom level, and intervention needs of your employee.
Following the Screening, we provide a proposal for an appropriate treatment and intervention plan — for example, an @Work intervention.
Work-focused @Work interventions
After a work-focused Screening, the treatment programme begins. This programme is complemented by one of our @Work interventions (the employer-focused component). This combined approach promotes a faster reduction of symptoms, supports an earlier return to work, and helps prevent further absence.
@Work Complete
The work-focused intervention @Work Complete promotes symptom reduction and supports the employee’s return to work, or helps prevent absence altogether. Work is an integral part of this intervention. The @Work Complete programme consists of 10 work-related components.
- Quick Start
A high frequency of sessions at the start of treatment has a proven positive effect on symptom reduction and return to work.
- Return to Work or absence prevention
In addition to symptom reduction, this programme places extra focus on work resumption or preventing absence. Research shows that this work-focused approach has a positive impact on a client’s work status.
- Employer intake call
At the start of the intervention, the treating therapist contacts the employer or case manager by phone to discuss and align on the employee’s work situation.
- Medical Report for the occupational physician
The occupational physician receives a detailed report after every fifth session, outlining the treatment plan and the client’s progress during the programme.
- Process updates for employer or case manager
The employer or case manager is regularly informed about HSK’s approach and the progress of the intervention — such as session dates, reintegration progress, and next steps. This information is strictly non-medical.
- Telephone contact with employer or case manager
During the intervention, the therapist contacts the employer or case manager to discuss progress and coordination. If desired, the employer or case manager can also contact the therapist directly to discuss the course of treatment and next steps.
- @Work sessions
Dedicated @Work sessions between the client and therapist focus on the employee’s work situation. Together, they explore opportunities for returning to work.
- Relapse prevention
The client and therapist jointly create a plan to prevent relapse in the future, with special attention to work-related factors. Relapse prevention is a standard part of all HSK treatments.
- Follow-Up session
A follow-up session takes place within six months of the final treatment session. The goal is to detect any signs of relapse early and provide the client with strategies to manage it effectively.
- Coordination Meeting
A joint meeting between the client, therapist, employer or case manager, and if applicable, the occupational physician. The aim is to discuss what can be done in the workplace to support recovery, remove barriers to return to work, and prevent future absence. This meeting usually takes place at an HSK location, although the therapist can travel to an external location if preferred (at an additional cost).
Funding
HSK is contracted by all Dutch health insurers, who reimburse treatment either in full or in part. The treatment is invoiced directly to the employee’s health insurer. The work-focused @Work intervention is invoiced to you as the employer.
It is also possible to privately fund both the treatment and the @Work intervention. In that case, no claim will be made on the employee’s health insurance.
Results
Employees who take part in our treatment programme usually return to work within four to six weeks after starting the @Work intervention. This positive outcome is also reflected in follow-up measurements, conducted six months to a year later.
